WELCOME TO THE SLY PARK HILLS AREA FIRE SAFE WEB-SITE
Wildfire Protection
IS A COMMUNITY ENDEAVOR
April 20, 2011 - Winter is Over - "I don't recall a winter like this since the early 60's," my Mother told me in mid-March. I had just finished clearing the driveway of snow (it's a long driveway). The next day I was looking at the brush near the house that I'll need to clear for the coming fire season. My thoughts were interrupted by a new snow storm with large flakes. no more snow...no more snow...
Yes, I know winter is NOT over. BUT it is time to start thinking about the coming fire season. The best time to start is before things dry out. I like to work in the cool early spring.
What's Happening - Not much is my understanding. But if Tom Schulz gets his way, we should expect to hear about some new fire safe endeavors around the Sly Park Hills area. It may be limited to some meetings to heighten awareness. With all the snow and rain this winter, we should expect significant new brush growth. Watch our web site for upcoming announcements.
